Great Frederick fare before World War II memories in Plymouth
A vivid reminiscence of Plymouth before the war as a hub for trans Atlantic travel and a city marked by Blitz damage. The piece describes a grand Lord Mayor's Day with ceremonies, the Bishop leading prayers, and a parade of dignitaries including Dame Joan and William Ivor Thompson. It notes Viscount and Lady Astor's seafront house as a backdrop, and recalls Barbican views with plaques about the Mayflower, Sea Venture, and early transatlantic flights.
