Judge weighs Cuban pitcher's draft exemption request
A Florida judge will decide next week on whether Cuban pitcher Relando Viera can be exempt from MLB drafting. Viera, who arrived in April on a lottery visa, argues residency rules force him into the draft while Baseball contends he is a legal US resident. His lawyers say a draft would irreparably harm his career and leave him barred from a team of his choice.
