Bidders' restraint steadies Frederick County tax sale
Frederick County's tax sale ran smoothly as bidders stayed within reason. After a May 12 scare when some bid excessively to profit from a delinquent tax law, County Treasurer Lois Filby required bidders bidding above 150 percent of market value to prove payment ability. Self restraint by bidders kept the auction from exploding, though the report notes prices hovered as the event continued.
