Wheat crop plan sparks farmer testimony in federal court
In Baltimore on June 1 three Carrell County farmers testified on how wheat crop rotation is affected by the government support program. The hearing, before Judge Roszel C. Thomsen, addressed an injunction against Westminster farmer Louis Shafer and three others for trespass by inspectors. Farmers described limited wheat allotments, needing more wheat for feed and rotation, and noted stubborn price supports amid imports and subsidies. The court expected to hear more tomorrow.
