Four dead in Carroll County car crash near Union Bridge
In a single-vehicle crash on Quaker Hill Road near Union Bridge late Friday, four people died including Terrell Devon Smith, year old, and his twin brother Derrell Cotez Smith, 6, along with Steven Glenn Hill, 29, and Tierra Irene McGarry, 1. The boys attended Elmer Wolfe Elementary School, and neighbors recalled their close bond. The driver, Steven Hill, is an uncle to the twins. The family expressed no blame and spoke of profound grief, noting the brothers died together and were well loved by their mother Regina Smith and relatives.

First Woman Alderman Elizabeth Burket Dies at 81
Elizabeth Burket, the Frederick Board of Aldermen's first female member, died Friday May 29 at Frederick Memorial Hospital at age 81. Born October 8 1920 in Frederick, she taught biology at Frederick High School 1933 to 1943 and later served on the city’s governing body from 1973 and again in 1985 to fill a term. Memorial services will be held June 2 at All Saints Episcopal Church with interment in Altoona Pennsylvania. Donations may be made to the Frederick County American Cancer Society.

Taneytown Man Killed in One Car Crash
A Taneytown man, Hugh David Chisholm Jr., 20, died in a Sunday night crash on Piney Creek Road near Taneytown, Carroll County, after authorities say excessive speed caused the single vehicle accident. Passenger Ellis Ray Gibson Jr., also 20, was flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore in critical but stable condition. The 1990 Ford Mustang GT left the road and struck a tree.
