Supreme Court Keeps One Man One Vote Rule In Redistricting
The Supreme Court maintained the one man one vote standard in a series of apportionment cases. It declined to halt a three judge court order for a New York special election, gave Illinois supervision to a reapportionment process, affirmed California Senate redistricting by July 1, and did not intervene in Idaho. The Illinois ruling allows federal court involvement if timeliness or fairness falters. The decision reaffirmed ongoing redistricting efforts nationwide.
