Loan To Argentina Really Bails Out U.S. Creditors
U S banks and firms face exposure as the Export-Import Bank backs a 125 million credit to Argentine banks. The move limits U S direct cash outlay but underwrites American creditors who shipped goods on credit. The deal could spur new Peron era credits while preserving blocked profits and raises questions about long term debt and national influence.
