Court of Appeals upholds ban on suing parents
The Maryland Court of Appeals upholds a 70 year old law barring children from suing parents in motor vehicle injury cases. Natasha Renko, 17, sought 100000 damages from her mother Teresa Kaylor McLean after a crash. The court ruled child parent suits threaten family harmony and that insurance may target the wrong party. In a separate decision, the court allow a Prince Georges grocery store customer to sue for injuries from a fall.
