Heart Fund drive in Maryland tops goal with 426341
Maryland Heart Fund campaign reports a total of 426341 dollars for 1958, surpassing the 425000 goal amid harsh weather and public concern. State Campaign Chairman John R Norris credited volunteers statewide for the record sum and noted Door Heart Sunday delays due to cold and snow. A separate note covers a Westminster airport incident where a plane rolled away during startup, damaging a power pole and leaving the pilot briefly embarrassed. Life expectancy in the United States was 69.5 years in 1955.
