The quirks of a pro am bridge event in New York
A 1989 New York City charity bridge tournament featured six deals showing pro-am play. East-West often held 11 tricks in red suits, but matchpoint values varied. South mostly played four spades, with one declarer taking all 13 tricks. Several tables saw pro players falter, including one down in four spades and another down in five spades due to early errors.
