Soil Retardant For Carpets And Rugs
College Park July 29 Now it is possible for homemakers to buy a soil retardant to treat carpets and rugs against soils. Vivian Curnutt University of Maryland extension home furnishings specialist explains the silica based product fills carpet pores and fiber tips, resists vacuum removal and keeps dirt on the surface for easy removal. One pint treats a 9 by 12 rug, slight crispness may occur but vacuuming removes it. White specks may appear but wash away with cleaning. Treated carpets stay clean about five times longer than untreated. Re treatment advised after commercial cleaning. many cleaners offer this service.
