Local Man Narrowly Escapes In Mountain Car Crash
Norman E. Kinsey, 36, of Frederick, narrowly escaped serious injury when his 1951 Chrysler sedan failed after a left rear tire blew out while descending the Blue Ridge Summit Waynesboro mountain. The car left the highway, struck a guard fence, ran 450 feet, jumped a tang, hit several trees, and fell 10 feet but Kinsey suffered only a minor scalp cut. Damages were estimated at 450 dollars. Kinsey had been critically injured in a November wreck near Abbatistown that killed George McCracken and injured three others before recovering.

Rush for Fuel Oil Faces Tight Winter Preparations
Frederick residents prepare from August 3 to September 15 as fuel oil deliveries pause. Dealers report crowded orders and rationing to ensure supplies for winter, with some delaying shipments and others restricting sales to keep stock for those in need. The city light plant will not be affected as it uses diesel oil, while concerns focus on fuel oil shortages versus delivery delays.
