Planning panel backs parent apartments in homes
At a regular meeting the planning commission recommended a zoning text amendment to allow parent apartments within single dwellings under a strict special exception. Key rules require owner occupancy, a maximum 30 percent footprint, side or rear entrances, two extra parking spaces, and annual deed covenant and affidavit filings to prevent misuse. The measure moves to the town council for approval alongside a separate permit for a sign company to relocate within a Dennis Kitchen and Bath building, involving a nonconforming use shift at 1010 Main Street.
