Frederick County Sheriff Richard Baumgartner and County Commissioners discussed hiring private guards for Winchester Hall. Commissioner Lawrence Dorsey criticized the closed meeting. officials said Baumgartner’s special deputies may be used in the future if available. The sheriff disclosed about 150 special deputies including 15 full time, police in several towns, and 15 to 20 with full powers, all trained and fingerprinted. Uniforms for Jacobs Detective Agency guards will switch from blue to two tone brown. Deputies fund their own uniforms.
