Motorists Charged In Frederick Traffic Incidents
A motorist claimed his car stalled after a battery terminal short and that a push started it again. Corporal Mossburg cited him for speeding as Frederick police staged dry runs on Market and Sixth Streets. Also charged were John Tobery for speeding on North Market Street and Walter Harmon for failing to report property damage. A ground breaking marked the start of an Evangelical Lutheran church and Sunday School building at Seventh Street and Grant Place in Frederick with clergy from Maryland and Pennsylvania in attendance.

Two inmates Eugene J. Cumyna Jr. and Gilbert Milsap attempted to escape by ladder at the Maryland Penitentiary in Baltimore. A guard fired a warning shot as they climbed a wall in a recreation yard but fled back among prisoners after a shotgun was raised. both convicts are serving 3½ year terms for robbery and attempted robbery with deadly weapons. The incident occurred as authorities reviewed security and the men were later identified.
