Maryland to kill fish for Deep Creek Lake study

Maryland scientists plan a first large scale test at Deep Creek Lake to assess overpopulation. On Sept. 7 workers will spray rotenone over 55 acres of Hoop Pole Run to kill thousands of fish, then analyze the catch for species mix, growth, health, and lake carrying capacity. The project, costing about 2500 dollars, follows complaints from Garrett County fishermen and is backed by Gov. McKeldin.
