Jervis Spencer Honored With Pimlico Stake Race

The late Jervis Spencer hailed as the greatest Maryland and national racing Commissioner by turf experts. A Stake Race at Pimlico bears his name, a unique tribute as the world’s only Race named for a Racing Commissioner. Maryland racing relies on horsemen and public attendance rather than politicians, who risk harming the sport with misguided laws.
