Sickness From Reportable Diseases The Maryland S H D report
The State Health Department reports about 34,000 cases of sickness from reportable diseases in the first six months of 1942, down from 41,920 in 1941. Baltimore City accounts for nearly 31,000 cases, with counties contributing about 15,000. Measles and other diseases show shifts, with German measles down and whooping cough also decreasing, while meningitis and diphtheria rise. The three groups—children's, venereal, and respiratory—comprise 98 percent of the total, and doctors are urged to report promptly to curb spread.
