Senator Warner of Missouri, Taft notification committee chairman, Wisconsin native and Civil War veteran, began politics as Kansas City city attorney in 1867, served in Congress in 1884 and 1896, long U S attorney for western Missouri. The Roosevelt wave of 1904 propelled him into the U S Senate after a state legislature deadlock. A powerful speaker and highly popular Republican figure.

New Haven Conn July 29 A Hot Springs Va visitor to Taft was freed after a carpenter cut away part of a phone booth so the presidential nominee could exit. A special mammoth booth was later built after measurements of Taft. Also: a Philadelphia wreck killed Kathryn Marie Zellora nineteen and injured Mina Zellers and two men. In Utica James Sherman announces McKinley to succeed him as congressional campaign chairman with Charles G Dawes named treasurer.
