Bloodmobile visit nets 91 units at Brunswick
The Red Cross Bloodmobile visit to the American Legion home in Brunswick on Monday, July 23, netted 91 units of blood from 101 donors registered. Four deferred for medical reasons and one unsuccessful. Of those registered, 68 were scheduled and 28 were walk-ins, including four new donors. James A Grove, Brunswick area Red Cross chairman, noted 28 registrants were B&O Railroad employees, a decline linked to reduced railroad employment.

Maryland lawmaker Len Ray Beck proposes extending the wage lien system to cover court ordered mortgage payments to aid households headed by mothers. He notes current law already fast-tracks child support liens, and argues applying the same swift procedure to mortgage defaults would prevent housing loss for single mothers.
