Public figures clash over Roosevelts Maryland job

Washington Sen Homer Capehart challenged Rep James Roosevelt to defend his 38 a year post as board chairman of the Family Savings Association of Silver Spring Maryland. He accused Roosevelt of potential conflicts with ethics and questioned why the Roosevelt son took the post after a pair of Senate bills would restrict insured deposits. Roosevelt said he took the job weeks ago after legislation was introduced. Capehart said he may seek investigations in Congress to expose any ties to federally insured savings groups. Premier Amintore Fanfani left Rome for the United States to meet President Eisenhower over the Middle East when Roosevelt’s procurement was discussed.
