Dropping Home Rule Bill for Ireland Confirmed
London July 25 Premier Asquith announced in the House of Commons that the government would not introduce any home rule bill without substantial cross party agreement. The move suggested Home Rule was being dropped for the moment as Lloyd George negotiations seemed to fail. Redmond pressed whether new proposals outside the agreed terms would be opposed by Nationalists. Asquith said cabinet approval is needed and two main points from the agreement were accepted by Unionists and Home Rulers.
