Accu Weather projects Sunday thunderstorms and showers from the Ohio Valley to the Northeast with scattered storms in the Southeast and in Wyoming and Montana. The rest of the nation stays partly cloudy. Western Maryland and Maryland mountains see highs near 80 with mid 60s lows. Friday temperatures center around 68 to 84. Extended outlook calls for mostly fair days Monday Tuesday with a chance of showers midweek and highs in the mid 80s to low 90s and lows mid 60s to lower 70s.

An 6 year old boy remains in hospital after falling more than two feet from a giant slide at the Mount Airy carnival grounds off Md 27 Wednesday night. Ryan Berrett of Mount Airy was listed in good condition at Frederick Memorial Hospital Saturday morning. Witnesses said he lost balance while positioning on a burlap sack for the slide tip.
A Maryland trooper reports a boy fell about 22 feet during a Mount Airy carnival slide incident, landing on a car roof then ground. The slide closed overnight, reopened after safety officials inspection, with Rosedale Amusements in charge of rides.
An organizational meeting for the Frederick County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is planned for Wednesday July 29 at the Holiday Inn on U.S. 40 West. Sue Graff, former Western Maryland chapter president and current treasurer, said strong local interest supports a separate Frederick County group. The gathering at 7 pm aims to announce the new chapter and recruit officers, with no positions yet filled.
Rain swept through the area flooding many Frederick County roads Friday night and Saturday morning. Road closures included Hessong Bridge Road at Lewistown, Powell Road Crum Road near Md 194 Stauffer Road, Daysville Road, Md 194 Wilhide Road, Good Intent Road, Water Street Road, Gas House Pike, Md 26 Israel Creek, and Stauffer Road near Crum. Some roads carried up to a foot of water while Md 550 Israel Creek near Woodsboro, Glade Road at the Golf Course and Md 144 at Ridgeview Road also reported high water. A tree blocked Md 31 near the county line and Coppermine Road off 194 saw high water but remained passable. Thunderstorms dumped 1.94 inches on Frederick. no damage or widespread calls reported by sheriff and state police.
