Roosevelt rides to Sagamore Hill after long trip

President Roosevelt and family arrived at Sagamore Hill after a seven and a half hour journey from Sayville. They rode an hour then walked an hour to spare the horses from heat and fatigue. The president and his companions were greeted by farmers along the way and enjoyed the countryside.

Fatal Runaway Accident Claims Dr Miller in Lancaster

Dr E J Miller aged 32 of Intercourse was fatally injured when his horse ran away on Welsh mountains six miles below his home. Mrs Miller escaped injury as the carriage toppled and Miller was hurled onto stones and died two hours later. Earlier local fatalities included David Evans run over by a farm engine, Garfield Ferick struck from a freight train at Ephrata, and James Nolt fatally hurt on a trolley line.

Women Shot From Ambush Near Lake City

Lake City Colorado July 25 Mrs Anna Bailey and Mrs Mery Woods were ambushed about two miles from town while returning from Lake Shore. Mrs Bailey was mortally wounded and Mrs Woods seriously injured as buckshot fired from concealed marksman tore the face neck and shoulder and caused the buggy to crash. Woods husband, recently quarrelled with her, is arrested for investigation.
