Bass Champs Draws 8000 to Cincinnati For Weigh In Day
Ray Scott aimed to turn bassin into a spectator sport as roughly 8,000 crowded River Front Stadium for day one of the Bass Champs on the Ohio River. Conditions in the Markland Pool were tough as 200 of 278 pros failed to reach keeper size. Tom Southwick led with 5 keepers weighing 10 lbs 1 oz, followed by Carl Hoskins and Jim Wells. With two days left and a $12,000 prize, the field remains wide open amid slow fishing and a heavy heat wave.
