Time For Commitment in Frederick Racism Forum
A July 22 1971 community forum at South Frederick Elementary sparked urgent calls for racial equality in Frederick County Maryland. Speakers highlighted housing and jobs as core issues with black residents seeking fair housing, employment, policing, education, and equal treatment. Local officials pledged steps toward enforcement of housing codes, expanded job opportunities, and broader community support. The piece condemns tokenism and urges sustained, collective action across white and black communities to prevent further racial strife.
