Water Bans Considered By County Towns
Water bans are being considered in two county towns as the summer drought impacts local supplies. Myersville and Emmitsburg officials warn bans may be imposed if rain does not arrive soon. Frederick City reports no immediate shortage but warns of higher demand during the August canning season and summer activities. Water levels in Fishing Creek reservoir run six inches below spillway. Monocacy River and Linganore Creek supply two filtration plants with no current bans since 1961.
