Magisterial Court sentences in Bartonstille and Libertytown
In Magisterial Court Monday Magistrate H Reese Shoemaker convicted a Bartonstille man of assault and battery and sentenced him to nine days in jail. Robert West, 24, a mute, received ten days for assault and battery and disorderly conduct, to run concurrently. Dantel Snowden, another Bartonsville resident, was freed on assault and battery charges and received a 30 day suspended sentence for disorderly conduct after the fight on West All Saints Street ended with Roger Bowens stabbed. Bowens, 23, was hospitalized with a stab wound. Sergt. Denver Shook testified seeing West with a knife. Snowden was later freed on the assault charge. West was found guilty of both charges. In Libertytown Elwood Cromwell Gaither, 66, was found innocent of operating a vehicle with inadequate brakes and failure to drive to the right of center. Gaither’s accident involved Harry Elwood McGaha, 37, who forfeited $16.45 collateral. The case noted Gaither swerved to avoid the collision. McGaha’s vehicle allegedly crossed center. John Adam Henry of Woodstock Va was guilty of intoxication with a suspended sentence conditioned on leaving town. Earl M Oden’s assault and battery charges were dropped for lack of prosecution. Pauly McGee forfeited collateral.
