Communists replace French colonialism in Indochina
Washington says Indochina peace is a surrender that hands 10,000,000 people to the Communists in Vietnam and 12,000,000 more in the region. The article condemns French and British roles, warns of wider world war, and argues the Indochina truce signals capitulation rather than victory, urging a staunch stance to prevent further Soviet expansion.
Kremlin Drive Threatens Western Unity After Indochina Accord
U S officials fear Moscow will push to fracture Western anti Communist unity after the Indochina settlement. Berlin talks on a Europe wide defense treaty with Russia joining may replace the European Defense Community plan pressed by the United States. Washington seeks a stronger Western front while Britain, France move cautiously. The danger is political and economic pressure in Indochina aimed at South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, not overt military aggression. Congress shows little reaction, and leaders frame the settlement as a Reds gain.
