First Family Uses FHA Graduated Payment Mortgage Plan
George and Virginia C faced college debt and low take home pay yet bought a home under FHA s Graduated Payment Mortgage Plan GPM starting at 350 a month and rising gradually to about 470. The plan, experimental then permanent, allows earlier home purchase as income grows. FHA expects 65000 GPM applications by year end, though down payment costs are higher and total interest may increase.
