Change Of Venue Denied In Spartan Club Robbery Case
In Circuit Court this morning Howard Levine argued for a venue change due to unfavorable local publicity about the Spartan Club robbery on April 1. Judges Schnauffer and Shure denied venue relief, rescheduling the trial for August 15, while noting the press has a right to publish, and that public stories did not render a fair trial. The motion also touched on suppression of evidence and identification, with the court ruling on the state’s proof and warrant issues.
