Reassessment Plan Halted Over Baltimore City Exemption
A lawsuit filed by David Lowenstein and Charles Wertheimer seeks an injunction against the Maryland State Tax Commission and Frederick County officials stopping a statewide property reassessment set to begin August 1. The suit argues the plan is unconstitutional and discriminatory for exempting Baltimore City, shifting tax burdens to surrounding counties, and omits personal property from the assessment.
