The American Farm Bureau Federation asks President Carter to demand the resignation of United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young. In a telegram, Allan Grant calls Young an embarrassment to the administration and to Americans citing remarks about political prisoners in the United States.

Injured residents listed in critical condition in area hospitals
Two area residents remain in critical or poor condition after separate mishaps. Charles Knight, 17, of Mount Airy, is in critical condition at Suburban Hospital Bethesda while Charles Boone of 30 East Seventh St. is listed in poor condition at MIEMS after being struck while directing traffic on Md. 85 near Francis Scott Key Mall. Boone was taken by air to MIEMS. preliminary reports blame a Maryland Gas Company truck and a van driver. Knight was injured Friday when he fell from a moving flatbed on Quince Orchard Road Gaithersburg. The accident report was filed by Tpr. Lonnie Barnhart. Larry J. King, promoted to Army specialist five, recently from Brunswick High School, served as a driver with the 160th Signal Group in Karlsruhe, Germany. He entered the Army on 11 September 1972.

The Mount Airy Branch Library offers a macrame workshop for youths ages 10 to 14 at 1 p.m. on Tuesday July 18. Participants should bring a one pound margarine tub to shape a macrame pot hanger. Mistrial Declared In Drunk Driving Case
Circuit Court Judge Samuel W Barrick declared a mistrial after a three hour deliberation on a drunk driving charge against Harriet E Palmer. The jury deadlocked at 10 to 0 for acquittal. Palmer had been convicted of failure to drive to the right of center. The arresting officer was Cpl Millard M Mastrine. The trial featured testimony about sobriety, odor of alcohol, and Palmer's high heels. Palmer's nephew and friends testified to her conduct at the Urbana social dance earlier that evening.

Fire damages Olney Inn property again
Olney reports another incendiary blaze at the Olney Inn Sunday night. An air compressor shed at the rear of the original structure burned and spread to the inn’s back shingle wall. Fire officials, led by Lt. Leonard King, brought the fire under control about ten minutes after arrival. Investigators have license tag numbers from two cars seen nearby and no arrests have been reported.
