BALTIMORE July 16 Mrs Victoria A Johnson 25 year old pregnant mother of three was acquitted today of murder in the shooting of her Army officer husband Army 1st Lt Eugene C Johnson to death May 14 An all male Federal Court jury deliberated 36 minutes deciding she was temporarily insane and not responsible for her actions when she fired five shots into the back and head of her husband as they sat in an automobile at the Army Chemical Center Edgewood She testified she bought a pistol after he said he was being transferred to Italy did not plan to take her and wanted a divorce so he could marry another woman She said she blacked out and could not recall drawing the gun She is mother of three daughters two by a previous marriage and is expecting a fourth near winter The trial highlighted a troubled marriage with alleged strict discipline and mistreatment of her daughters by him
