Navy war game to defend New York from Long Island foes

Smiles After 150 Foot Fall From Water Tower
Joseph Kinward of Maxwell Briscoe Motor Company survived a 159 foot fall while painting a water tower in Tarrytown New York. The rope slipped, he struck a guard wire, complete somersaulted and landed on his feet. He joked that he did not expect to come down this way and returned to work atop the tower.

Disaster in Cascade Coal Mine near Dubois
A gas explosion in the Sykesville shaft of Cascade Coal and Coke in Dubois Pennsylvania caused extensive fatalities. Twenty one men died from after damp as rescuers found six bodies underground and eleven more were recovered. Fall kills naval officer in Philadelphia apartment shaft
Captain W A Woodhull seventy two year old retiree from the United States navy was killed when he fell from the fifth floor of the Bartram Apartments at Thirty third and Chestnut through an air shaft to the second floor. Doctor says vertigo caused the accidental plunge as he leaned from the shaft window seeking air. An immense mastodon rib was found plowed up on a farm near Hartford near Everett Washington.

Aeronaut lands on streetcar after parachute drop
Wayne Abbott, a Denver aeronaut, fell from an estimated 3000 to 4000 feet in a parachute and landed on the front end of a street car in Denver. Forty passengers were frightened, a woman fainted, and several were bruised as motorists and riders escaped. Abbott suffered severe bruising to the head and shoulders and possibly rib fractures. In Allentown, Mrs. Mary Salinsky, 85, broke the upper leg bone in bed during a visit.
