Toddler starts duplex fire by playing with lighter
A 1 year old girl playing with a cigarette lighter ignited bed clothing in a second story bedroom causing $2,500 damage and displacing a Thurmont family of four. Neighbors and the Thurmont fire units contained the blaze to the room. In a separate incident two Mount Airy residents sustained burns when a spare propane tank exploded under a grill causing $70,000 damage to the house and contents.
