Howard County Studies Automatic Tax Billing Change
Three Frederick County officials reported in Elliott City on Thursday that Howard County uses a Baltimore firm punch card system to keep assessments and tax records updated. The system can instantly produce countywide tax totals and selectively access data by taxpayer group, though full county figures may take longer for 30,000 taxpayers. Officials cited benefits over two-month baselines and noted similar sources from Howard County officials and assessors. Rosemont and Brunswick contributions to local services were noted, including library funding and a new home permit. Police report a 17 year old fatally shot his mother and wounded his father, then killed himself with a 22 caliber rifle.
