Trolley Deal Gives Hagerstown Control of Local Line
Hagerstown interests gain a controlling majority in the Myersville and Catoctin Electric Railway with 203 of 325 shares sold at 20 a share. Frederick officials predict a strong minority stake and possible line completion to connect with Hagerstown, boosting regional traffic and competition for Middletown Valley trade. The Frederick and Middletown line anticipates benefits from through-fare growth even if freight shifts occur. The Hagerstown Morning Herald argues Frederick fears regional access to the Middletown Valley and resists the extension, while praising the potential gains for Hagerstown.
