Bank Barn Destroyed By Fire On Milestone Farm
Fire of unknown origin swept a large wood bank barn at the Phillip Milestone farm near Gaithersburg destroying an 80 by 30 foot structure with a new tractor, four wagons, and about 4,000 bales of hay. Fifty to sixty firefighters from Hyattstown Gaithersburg Damascus and Laytonsville fought the blaze from 1 30 a m to 6 a m, using water from a nearby swimming pool. The loss is estimated at 30 000 with no insurance expected to cover it. Chief John Cooley planned a daylong site watch and an investigation was to be conducted into possible foul play.

Blood Drive Falls Short of County Quota in 1964-65 Effort
Emergency appeals for donors failed to reach the county quota of 153 pints per bloodmobile visit. On Monday the Red Cross conducted a second fiscal year visit, collecting 134 pints to leave a deficit of 85 pints. An 82 year old divorcee was raped early today by a man who entered her second floor bedroom window and threatened to kill her if she screamed. Police described the assailant as similar to a man who raped a 21 year old student nurse Sunday.

Fischer Lang and Co. began cleaning and refinishing entry doors and woodwork, while bids for repainting Winchester Hall, the jail, and the Court House were reviewed, with Frederick Painting and Decorating Co. the low bidder at 5802 dollars. Tree trimming to curb starling problems and heavier lighting upgrades for the steps were also included in the project, with most work to be finished in about two weeks.
