Soviet Spy Ship Vega Close Off Atlantic Coast
The U S Navy says the Soviet trawler Vega operated as an electronic spy ship during tests near the Atlantic coast including 12 miles off Cape Henry and 60 miles south of Long Island. The ship’s radar gear was demonstrated with photos as part of a joint Navy Air Force exercise and the trawler briefly attempted to back down as a tug passed.
