Storm damage confined to limited sections across Frederick County

A late July hailstorm and rain swept through Frederick County, striking Sabillasville and Camp Ritchie hardest. Hail the size of walnuts damaged greenhouses and windowpanes, with fruit losses reported near Sabillasville. The storm crossed Thurmont, Lewistown, Walkersville, and Frederick, bringing heavy rain, broken glass, and a temporary halt to a parade, but corn and most orchards largely escaped serious harm. Temperature plummeted from the 90s to the low 70s as rain ended and the sun reappeared.
