Local man cleared by Frederick County court in assault case
A Predenck man was found innocent of assaulting Officer Patrick O'Brien during a May speeding arrest. Judge Mary Ann Stepler ruled no charges stood for assault and battery or destruction of property amid disputed claims of force. Nash was also cleared of speeding but fined for failing to sign the citation. Several unrelated verdicts and a presentence review were also issued.

Rattlesnake Subdued After Bathroom Battle
In San Angelo Texas Vivian Fields woke to a two foot diamondback snake in her toilet. Her husband and two police officers with an animal control officer fought the rattler using fire extinguishers hoses and sacks before they hacked its head off after more than an hour. Fields remains rattled but recovering though wary of the bathroom.
