Rees Is Given Free Counsel In Murder Case
Melvin D. Rees Jr. was assigned two free prosecutors to defend him on federal kidnapping and murder charges. Judge Watkins named William J. O'Donnell and William J. Evans as defenders, with no government fees. Proceedings may delay his Friday arraignment as the new counsel prepare. Rees faces Virginia kidnapping murder charges, and the Arkansas case involved the 1957 Gambrils shooting.
