Early Russian Missionaries Had Rough Time In Alaska
In Alaska in 1780s, eight Russian Orthodox clergymen and servants arrived by ship to spread Christianity, welcomed by settlers but opposed by Baranov who ruled Alaska. The missionaries faced harsh winter huts and famine while Baranov’s men indulged in luxury. one priest recalls Baranov’s drunken conduct at a service. Later, Fréderick Squadron CAP promoted two members and planned a tour to the 167 Fighter Squadron in West Virginia with cadets testing orientation and achievements.
