Pirates edge Boston as Barnhart shines in loss
Clyde Barnhart, former Frederick Blue Ridge star now at third for the Pirates, went 2 for 4 in yesterday's defeat to Boston. Lou Blue added two hits for Detroit, including a four-bagger. Walter Kimmick, now with the Reds, went hitless but handled all chances cleanly. Danger to Cattle: Potomac Public Service posts weed-killing notices along tracks warning owners not to graze cattle where the machine operates. A poison-free prep is used, but ingestion can be fatal. To Manage Birmingham Club: Joe Dunn signs to manage the Birmingham club of the Southern Association, taking charge Sunday after Carston Molesworth’s resignation.
