Richard Heckscher Dead Pioneer Anthracite Operator
Richard Heckscher, a veteran operator of anthracite coal mines in Schuylkill county and founder of Kohinoor collieries at Shenandoah, died in Philadelphia after a long illness. Born in Hamburg in 1822, he came to America in 1842 and helped develop numerous collieries in Heckscherville Thomaston Forestville Minersville and other towns. He is survived by his widow and eight children.
