Frederick approves East Street Bridge plans and ramps

The Frederick Historic District Commission approved concept plans for East Street bridge over Carroll Creek and two pedestrian ramps. Design aims to boost downtown visibility, with a $200,000 design budget and a $21 million project total. Construction could start in 1999 and finish by late 2000. Proponents cite revitalization and emergency access benefits, while residents worry about east-end isolation. Other actions include a wooden fence gate approval at 44 Third St and local student achievements and appointments to West Point.
