Sordid ties bind Gilmore case to Nicole Barrett
In Springville Utah Nicole Barrett former girlfriend of executed killer Gary Gilmore nearly joined him in death in a pact. Now 18 months after his January 1977 execution Barrett lives incognito in Oregon while Gilmore’s mother Beasie Gilmore says Barrett loves her son nearly as much as ever. Barrett has received about 20000 dollars from promoter Lawrence Schiller for rights to her story and a possible film while Norman Mailer reportedly interviewed her for a book. Barrett hitchhiked 40 miles to visit Gilmore at the prison and once overdosed in an apparent death pact with the man who made world headlines.
