Bradley warns on Soviet risk of war to unite satellites
Washington July 6 General Omar N Bradley retiring head of the joint chiefs warned that Soviet Russia might resort to war to unite its quarreling satellite nations behind the Iron Curtain. He urged more and better defense for the Western world and noted Russia would likely hesitate to start a large war amid internal troubles. Bradley will join Bulova Research and Development and plans to live in California while commuting to the East as needed. He recalled the 1949 first Russian atomic test and said it gave a sense of relief that Russia would wait to amass weapons before a big move.
