Astronomers Find Giant Black Hole in Nearby Galaxy
In galaxy NGC 3115, a black hole with mass about 100 times that of any previously detected black hole has been found at its center. Joan Kormendy of Hawaii and Douglas Richstone of Michigan measured stellar orbits and velocities to infer the dark core mass, located 30 million light years away.
